The African Circular Economy Alliance (ACEA) and the Africa Circular Economy Facility (ACEF) unveil the 30 innovative Micro Small and Medium Enterprises from Côte d'Ivoire, Ghana, and Rwanda selected to join the AfriCircular Innovators Programme. The goal is to create a ripple effect of innovation and sustainable practices that contribute to the broader development of Africa's circular economy.

Empowering MSMEs for sustainable and green growth

Funded by the African Development Bank’s ACEF, the programme acknowledges the importance of providing robust support to enable Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to advance circularity on the continent, as highlighted by ACEA members. The AfriCircular Innovators Programme recognizes MSMEs' pivotal role by being the backbone of the African economy and comprising 80% of businesses.

It is implemented by Impact Hub, selected after a competitive process to ensure the highest standards of support and expertise. Impact Hub's involvement underscores the commitment to providing comprehensive, high-quality support to the selected enterprises.

Strategic sector focus and tailored support for innovation

Aligned with ACEA's "Five Big Bets", the AfriCircular Innovators Programme targets sectors with high potential for boosting circularity, economic growth, job creation, and long-term environmental benefits, such as packaging, the built environment, electronics, fashion and textiles, and food systems.

To enable Africa to leverage these "Five Big Bets," the 30 selected enterprises will receive tailored and comprehensive technical and financial support to scale their operations and drive innovation within these fields. This includes mentorship, training programs, and access to a network of industry experts. Small grants will provide the necessary resources for these enterprises to implement and expand their circular economy projects effectively.

With Africa’s youthful population poised to become the world's largest labor pool by 2050, the programme also aims to harness this demographic advantage.

Commitment to Circular Solutions

ACEA is steadfast in its commitment to amplifying circular solutions and perspectives from Africa. By collaborating with regional and international partners, ACEA aims to drive policy development, leadership, and advocacy efforts that support the scaling of circular economy businesses and projects across the continent.
